The environment is a high priority for Kurdziel Industries. We believe it's crucial to be proactive and to go beyond the basic environmental regulatory requirements for our manufacturing operations. Our aim, as one of our corporate values states, is that "the environment in which we live and work benefits from our presence and continuously improves in a safe, sustainable manner."
That's why we support a number of programs that contribute to environmental awareness. These programs include:
Whitetails Unlimited's Project HOPE (Habitat Options and Planned Enhancement)
This program helps manage public and private forests to provide numerous resource benefits. A primary goal is to develop and maintain healthy habitats to support all types of plants and wildlife. One of our projects was recently featured in a Whitetails Unlimited magazine.
Shelby Public Schools Annual Wetlands Experience
To date, more than 600 Michigan students have participated in a wetlands program hosted by our Rothbury facility. The students examine soil types, record animal and plant observations, learn about recycling, interact with employees who care about the environment and see how industry and nature can coexist.
Air and Waste Management Association - West Michigan Chapter
Kurdziel Industries is a chapter sponsor, and staff members serve on the association's board of directors.
Adopt-a-Highway and Adopt-a-Stream
Employees and area students participate in these programs, maintaining roadways and streams in the vicinity of our manufacturing facilities.
West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum
Kurdziel Industries has joined with a group of likeminded West Michigan businesses to share ideas and support environmentally sustainable business practices.
Resource Recovery Corporation
We are a shareholder in this consortium of West Michigan foundries working to collectively manage foundry residuals in a safe, sustainable manner. The consortium promotes recycling and reusing various foundry residuals as an alternative to landfill disposal. A heat-recovery project at one of our foundries has been featured in an article on Michigan's energy efficiency success stories, published by the Safe Energy Communications Council in Washington, D.C.
Community Sponsorships
We also provide financial support for Little League teams and other local school and community sports programs. Our employees participate as volunteers with these programs.
